Cara & Jacob’s Wedding Day

Congratulations to Cara and Jacob who were married amongst the vines at Keswick Vineyards on Saturday, August 29th.  The couple met during their college years at Radford University here in Virginia but had always been in love with the vineyard life. As they say…once in love with the mountains, always in love with the mountains! The flowers by Sandy from Verde Natural Floral were picture perfect, as always. Their color scheme of navy, blush, and gold made for an elegant affair which always compliments Keswick Vineyards so perfectly. Their harpist playing in the background was a nice touch to this as well! The couple chose to make homemade infused rosemary olive oil as favors for their guests. This is a first we’ve seen and it truly was such a sweet touch. Delicious dinner by Harvest Moon and dancing to follow this crowd thoroughly enjoyed such a perfect summer night!

Thank you to the following vendors:  Harvest Moon Catering, Officiant Gay Lee EinsteinDesserts by Sweethaus, DJ Dennis Payne, Photographer Sarah Goodwin Photography, Hair & Make-up by Studio FBJ, Flowers by Verde Natural Floral, Transportation by Albemarle Limousine, and Event Planner Becca Bees.

A UVA wedding with Cav Man!

Well, I knew this wedding was going to be a fun one but I had no idea I was in for a treat with the UVA Cav Man making a surprise visit for Kim & Jon’s wedding at Keswick Vineyards on Friday, August 28th. With both Kim & Jon being UVA graduates and choosing orange and blue to be their wedding colors, I guess it was only natural for the Cav Man to be here. Jon is from Texas and Kim is from Singapore. They met when they both were attending UVA. I love how they incorporated that into a custom made map that guests would sign. It showed where each of them were from and then it connected the dots to Virginia to form a heart. They had cowboy boots to add to the décor on that table which they later wore to dance in. Kim & Jon’s wedding ceremony was held at the UVA Chapel. The guys were taken there in style in a super stretch Hummer limousine. Jon had each of the groomsmen bow ties monogrammed for them. I thought that was a nice touch. Cody, from Amore Events, did a beautiful job with all the flowers and the rest of the décor. The combination of Kim’s dress and the bouquet Cody made for her: AMAZING!!!!
As soon as the guests arrived they were treated to Kim & Jon’s signature drink of Sangria’s made with Keswick Vineyards Les Vents d’Anges Chardonnay and Norton wines. Delicious food also awaited them prepared by Roadside Chive. Some homemade desserts were made by family friends along with a wedding cake by Butter Cream Dream. What a treat it was to try some Chinese bacon for a dessert. Yummy! Each guests got a box of fudge to take with them from Kim & Jon’s favorite local chocolatier, The Chocolate Shop.

Thanks to the following vendors for a wonderful job: Event Planner & Florist Cody from Amore Events, Catering by Roadside Chive, Wedding Cake by Butter Cream Dream, DJ Derek Austin from Richmond, Photographer Ashley Cox Parsley Photography, Transportation by Blue Ridge Tours & A&A Limo, Hair by Brianna Adams and Make-up by Susan Kim.

Ryder/Ryder is Ready/Ready!

Traditionally here at Keswick Vineyards we have happy couples come to us excited and newly engaged. They take the typical one year journey into their planning process and leave on their big day as newlyweds beginning to embark on one of the greatest journeys of life. Our wedding this past weekend mixed up this routine with us and it was wildly refreshing. Sam and Trish had been married for years prior to coming to see us. Both of them being active duty in the military, they never fully had the opportunity to host their dream wedding…until recently! We’ve had this wedding on our calendar (with many different dates) for quite some time. Deployments and their duties for our country seemed to always push back their date further and further, but this year on August 15th they finally were able to come together and have the vow renewal they have long dreamed for.

It was truly a family affair. Sam’s father officiated the ceremony because…well…it was already official! The couple re-declared their love with sweeping mountain views and the sun shining. Their cousin serenaded guests with the violin and even their Aunt contributed in making absolutely delicious desserts to send the crowd home with a sugar high! It was a celebration we’ve been greatly looking forward to and are so happy to have shared with them. Congratulations (again) to Sam and Trish Ryder! Special thanks to the following vendors for making the day so memorable: Event Planner Keswick Vineyards, Caterer Harvest Moon Catering, Florist Flowers by Natalie, DJ Dennis Payne with Playback DJ, Hair and Make-up Ave 42, Photographer Rebecca Keeling Studios, Transportation Albemarle Limousine, tent lighting by Skyline Tent Company.

Stephanie and Greg Break Glass and Tie the Knot!

Congratulations to Stephanie and Greg who officially tied the knot at Keswick Vineyards on Saturday, August 8th, and rang in their marriage with the Jewish traditional of breaking a glass by stomping on it! Mazal Tov!  A humorous moment in their ceremony was when they both shared in sipping some wine from the same glass.  Stephanie went first so when it was Greg’s turn he made sure he finished all the wine.  Guests got a good chuckle when he did that. Never miss an opportunity to enjoy some good wine I guess!  Their wedding day was already off to a great start with beautiful skies and a perfectly breezy day. The couple, having been together for many years, has been fortunate enough to travel the world together. They made tribute to this by having their guest tables named after the places they had been. We couldn’t have agreed with them more when we saw that they had chosen Charlottesville for their head table! Dressed in rich navy linens and beautiful flowers by Hedge Fine Blooms their tables were stunning and fit right in with their French chic theme. Their head table looked like it was set for a staged photo shoot.  For an even more perfect touch they added bistro lighting underneath of the tent to have them dancing the night away “under the stars” (one of our favorite ways to dress the Sperry tent here at Keswick Vineyards!) We hope they continue to travel their way around the world and one day make their way back here to where their marriage started with us soon!

Thank you to the following vendors:  Caterer & Day Of Coordinator Roadside Chive, DJ Andy Wilfong of Party Masters, Musician Peter Richardson, Paul Hariston Cinematography, Hedge Fine Blooms, Carpe Donut, UTS Charter Bus Services, Skyline Tent Company, Hair & Make-up by Brianna Adams and Officiants Samantha Pelstring & Sully Carter.

Anna and Hutton's Wedding Day!

When Anna first came to Keswick Vineyards for a tour of the property, she knew immediately that this was the venue for them.   We had a Saturday available in 2015 but it was only 4 ½ months away.  Would she be able to organize a wedding within that time frame????  Of course, and she did!  On Saturday, August 1st, Anna & Hutton were married and everything was just perfect!  This just shows you that you don’t need a year or longer to pull off an exceptional wedding. Anna & Hutton arrived early at Keswick Vineyards to get ready for their ceremony which was off site at a local church.  After the ceremony, guests enjoyed themselves on the East lawn of Edgewood Estate while sipping some award winning wines and appetizers.  Corn hole games were also available for guests to enjoy while the couple got their portraits taken. Once cocktail hour was over, guests found their seat under the Sperry tent and enjoyed a delicious buffet dinner prepared by Southern Inn Catering.  I love how Anna used an old window pane to display the menu.  She put burlap cloth behind the glass so the writing would stand out more.  Great idea!  She also had for centerpieces bouquets of the same flower in mason jars with a ribbon tied around them.  Very simple yet elegant.  Besides a delicious dinner, guests enjoyed some homemade desserts and danced the night away. This wedding had the best ending that I have seen in 5 years.  For the last song, DJ Frank Smith played “Lean On Me”.  Just as the song started everyone, and I mean everyone, formed a giant circle around the dance floor and put their arms around each other and sang along with the music.  Towards the end Anna & Hutton danced in the middle of the circle joined by their parents creating an inner circle.  It was just such a beautiful way to close out the evening.  And then when that song was over, everyone broke out into singing the UVA fight song.  This was one of those weddings that you could just feel the closeness and love of everyone there.

Special thanks to the following vendors for doing such a fantastic job:  Southern Inn Catering, DJ Frank Smith with Primetime Sound, Felisa Needham Photography, Videography by Solokoo Productions, Wedding Planner Megan McConnell and transportation by Albemarle Limousine.

High School Sweethearts Tie The Knot!

Congratulations to Danielle & Michael who were married at Keswick Vineyards on Saturday, July 18th.  These high school sweethearts finally tied the knot!  They chose to have their ceremony up near the front fountain of Edgewood Estate with the vineyard and mountains as their background.  I loved the floral arrangements that were hung on shepherd hooks on each side of the alter.  The arrangements were done in little wine barrels!  Their florist also made a wreath to go around the top lip of a wine barrel to dress up their unity candle.  What a beautiful ceremony they had!  After the ceremony guests enjoyed some cocktails and getting some pictures taken in a photo booth.  Guests were entertained by the wedding party as they performed a group dance.  Get a load of the photo of Michael doing a lift/dip with Danielle.  So much fun was had through out the evening with a sparkler departure as they left in a vintage car.  Special thanks to the following vendors:  Southern Inn Catering, Ken Pak PhotographyMagnolia Quartet, Videographer by Astro Entertainment, Sanders Family Photo Booth, Secret Gardens Florist, Officiant Pastor Sandy Wisco, Passionflower Cakes, Albemarle Limousine, Hair & Make-up by Ulta Beauty/Salon Ceilo.

Donna & Eric’s Cyclists Wedding

Congratulations to Donna & Eric who were married at Keswick Vineyards on Saturday, July 11th.  Donna & Eric met through a friend of Eric’s 2 years ago at a cycling event at The Miller School.  Eric was instantly attracted to Donna.  They both were serious cyclist and that love was very obvious at their wedding. So much so, that along with wedding rings they exchanged their I.D. bracelets that cyclists often wear incase they get injured.

I love all the cycling details that Donna & Eric had come up with.  You will see in my photos just some of those.  One of my favorites was the wedding cake that was made by a friend of theirs.  He incorporated gears from a bike into the cake stand!  Donna had bike wheels hanging as the back drop behind their wedding cake that were adorned with some flowers.  Guests seating charts were also attached to bike wheels with cloth pins.  And of course, my favorite, using a Tandem bicycle built for two as their get away car fully attached with cans dragging behind it as they rode off.

Thanks to the following vendors for their exceptional talents:  DJ TD Layman of Sound Enforcement, Officiant Gay Lee Einstein, Caterer Groovin’ Gourmet, RMK Photography, Moxie Hair and Body Lounge for Hair & Make-up, Verde Natural Florals and Easy Rider Bus Company.

Hannah & Steve Win Over Mother Nature!

Congratulations to Hannah & Steve who were married at Keswick Vineyards on Saturday, June 27th.  At their rehearsal the night before, Hannah had pretty much given in to the fact that it was going to rain on her wedding day.  With the weather forecasting a 90% chance of rain, it was almost a sure thing.  Hannah was determined to be married in front of Edgewood Estate by the vineyard so she put her rain plan into affect.  She purchased some really cute rain boots for her and her bridesmaids to wear.  She rented an additional tent to house her outdoor ceremony under.  Everything was all set for her “rain” wedding day. So, Saturday comes and guess what?  Yes, Hannah & Steve woke to rain that morning BUT by mid day, the rain went away!  It was amazing to watch the radar as the storms seem to part and go around Keswick Vineyards.  I’ve seen this many times and couldn’t of been more happy for Hannah & Steve.  So, no cute rain boots were needed and instead of the tent being used to protect the guests from rain during the ceremony, it was used to shade them from the sun!  Steve told me after the ceremony that he kept telling Hannah it wasn’t going to rain and boy was he right.  Way to call it Steve!  Special thanks to the following vendors for their superb service:  C&O Catering, Barb Wired Event Planner, DJ TD Layman of Sound Enforcement, Musicians Linden TrioDesserts by Sweethaus, Officiant Phil Gates, Photographer Tyler & Rebecca Corvin of C. Tyler Studio, Videographer Zac Fabian, Photo Booth by Charlottesville Photo BoothHair & Make-up by Anne Kibler of Charlottesville Make-up, Blue Ridge Florist, Rentals by Paisley & Jade and MS Events and Transportation by Camryn Buses and Vanterra & A&A for limousine, and Skyline Tent Company.

Meaghan & Eric’s “stormy” wedding day

There’s always a first for everything and Saturday was once of those days at Keswick Vineyards.  Meaghan & Eric were married at Keswick Vineyards on Saturday, June 20th.  Unfortunately, Tropical Storm Bill was an uninvited guests for them.  Earlier in the week, Tropical Storm Bill came ashore in Texas and slowly made its way towards Virginia.  At Friday nights rehearsal Meaghan had already accepted that it would be raining on her wedding day.  She was hopeful that she would still be able to have her ceremony outside but if not, she was good with our rain plan.
Saturday came and the day started out just beautiful but we all new this was the calm before the storm.  Knowing that we would be getting something that night we prepared the reception tent so it would be ready in case of a bad storm.  We watched the radar closely and saw that we were going to be able to do the ceremony outside but then the bands of the storm would be hitting us.  The ceremony was just beautiful in front of the fountain with the backdrop of the vineyard and mountains.  We quickly headed out to get some photos down by the pond for it was a priority for Meaghan.  Just as we were finishing the photos the rain started.  We quickly road the golf cart back to the estate and joined the rest of the guests for cocktails under the tent to wait out the storm.
This storm had some muscles to it.  With the rain pouring down and the wind blowing we quickly got the sides on the tent to keep everyone dry.  I’ve never seen rain come down like that except when I was in Florida for another tropical storm.  Guests enjoyed themselves as they enjoyed cocktails and appetizers.  Even the DJ got into the spirit of the storm by playing songs like “Rain Drops Keep Falling On My Head”.  Once the storm blew threw we opened the sides of the tent an everyone went outside to see the double rainbow Mother Nature had giving us.  I wasn’t able to get a photo of it but can’t wait to see what their photographer took.  We got about a 30 minute break before another wave came threw but this time not as bad.  Dinner was served just before that wave hit so guests were able to finish dinner while waiting that one out.  After that wave we were good for the night so the sides came off the tent and everyone started to dance the rest of the night away.  Late night snacks were provided along with a delicious dessert bar which included some chocolates from Michigan.  Oh yah, did I forget to mention this couple was from Michigan???  I thought it was great that they made their entrance into the reception tent to the U of M fight song.
I’m sure Meaghan & Eric and their guests will always remember this wedding.  The storm definitely added another element to the occasion.  I will always remember what a great attitude they had towards the weather along with their guests.  I’m not sure many couples would have such a carefree attitude and allow themselves to relax and enjoy their wedding day no matter what Mother Nature was throwing at them.  I think with that attitude it made it a lot easier on all the vendors that worked so hard at doing everything possible to make this wedding be just as perfect with or without the storm.  A special thank you for all the vendors for working so hard to pull off this wedding:  Caterer Groovin’ Gourmets, Furniture Rentals by Paisley & Jade, DJ T.D. Layman of Sound Enforcement, Musicians Madison Trio during ceremony & cocktail hour, Photographer Don & Lindsey Mears of Don Mears Photography, Hair & Make-up by Lou Stevens Glam Squad, Verde Natural Florals, Albemarle Limousine, MS Rentals and Keswick Vineyards as Day Of Event Planner.

Elaine & Ken's Wedding Day

Elaine & Ken were married at Keswick Vineyards on Saturday, June 13th.  Nothing could of made this couple more happier then to see the rain that was forecasted for the day never to appear!  Once the radar was clear, high fives were given, and the all outdoor wedding was on!  Special thanks to Jacqueline from Barbeque Exchange who seems to intimidate Mother Nature every time.  LOVE that girl!
Elaine was just breath taking!  Her hair and make-up were just flawless and those earrings!  AMAZING!!!  She looked like a model in that dress of hers with that long veil.  Ken didn't look so bad either:)  Elaine & Ken had chosen fuchsia and gold as their wedding colors.  Boy did the reception tent look amazing!  With fuchsia tableclothes with giant floral arrangements on top of tall glass vases and gold plates accented with bistro lighting through out the tent.  I just loved the look.  Be sure to chck out the cute grooms cake the bride had made  from their dogs.
I knew when Elaine and Ken did their first dance together that this was a dancing couple.  Most couples have a slow song for their first dance.  Not these two.  They "performed" for the crowd and everyone loved it!  That dancing continued the entire night especially with Elaine and her father.  Boy could they dance!  I especially loved it when Elaines parents had a song dedicated to them that was their wedding song many, many years ago.  When I heard it I couldn't believe it.  It was the same song that I walked down the aisle to when I was married.  This is not a common song that is normally played at wedding ceremonies.  Since I was married in Hawaii it is more of a Hawaiin song so it was really weird to heard that being played as "their" song.  Funny how things like that happen.  Any ways, I just loved everything about this couple and their wedding and I want to send a special thank you for the exceptional vendors that gave it their all to make this wedding so special for them:  Caterer Barbecue Exchange, Wedding Planner Jennifer Hamlin of Events with Panache, DJ Greg Tutwiler of National DJ Connection, Photographer Stephanie Messick Photography, Video by Red Heron Productions, Hair & Make-up by Eric Stickler of Main Street Station, Florist Mary Henry of Mary Henry Designer, Blue Ridge Transportation, Rentals by MS Events, Officiant Paul Ownes and Skyline Tent Company.
