2021 LVA Syrah

These grapes were sourced from the Columbia AVA in Washington state. The fruit was received whole-cluster, so the winemaker could truly work the grapes and not just the juice. 50% of the clusters were de-stemmed into the tank, and the remaining whole clusters were added to the top for fermentation. After fermentation the wine was transferred into French Oak barrels with 50% of those barrels being brand new. The color of this wine is deeply extracted with ruby, purple tones extending to the rim of the glass. The nose is expressive with notes of dark cherry (plum cherry), spices and black pepper. The palate is dry with fine-grained tannins and pronounced flavors of dark berries.  This young wine is extremely drinkable now, and should continue to develop for 3-5 years in the bottle. The 2021 Syrah can be enjoyed with lean meats like game, venison or rubbed tenderloin.
