Governor's Cup Bundle
Winners of the 2024 Virginia Governor's Cup Competition, you will want to grab these 3 wines while you can! This Bundle consists of our Gold medal winner 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Block 7 and our 2 Silver medal winners 2022 Keswick Vineyards Cabernet Franc Block 2 and our 2022 Keswick Vineyards Lydian.
2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Block 7
100% Cabernet Sauvignon from our Block 7 Estate Vineyard. Matured in exclusively French oak, 75% 500L in size. The wine is perfumed with red berry fruits, with secondary aromas of leather, cigar box and pipe tobacco. The color is deep Ruby. The flavors are red berry dominated with a good number of tannins and acidity, that keep these full-bodied wines from feeling too heavy and cloying. We suggest pairing this wine with any red meat, or try pepper crusted ahi tuna. This is one to lay down for a few years before drinking and will drink well up to 10 years.
2022 Lydian
Viognier, Petit Manseng and Chardonnay. The unique combination works like a beautiful major triad - each note different but contributing equally in distinct and perfect ways. Viognier was picked towards the front of the estate, while Petit Manseng and Chardonnay were picked towards the back of the property. Each parcel was harvested and vinified separately. Aged for more than 6 months in neutral French oak. The wine shows a golden tinge in color but is clear, devoid of sediment. A complex nose of tropical fruit, yeast and toasted sesame and oak. The palate starts gently and crescendos into creamy fruitfulness and finishes with zesty acidity. It will beautifully pair with roasted turkey, sweet potatoes, and stuffing or with fresh fruits and cheeses.
2022 CABERNET FRANC BLOCK 2
This wine was aged in French Oak for 10 months. The grapes are in front of Edgewood Estate. Cab Franc Block 2 is medium-bodied, red-fruit nose accompanied by undertones of cedar and pepper. The palate begins softly but swells with fresh fruit. With plush tannins, this wine has a lingering finish of fruit and oak. This wine is incredibly beautiful now, but we highly recommend 2-3 years (from the bottling in late spring of 2023) for this wine to truly develop. We suggest you pair this decadent wine with a holiday roast, charcuterie meats or grilled lamb.
